Year End Appeal 2018

Yes! I support the protection and care of Teatown’s 1,000-acre preserve.

Dear friends,

As the winter holidays approach, we at Teatown have so much for which we’re thankful. In 2018 alone, we give thanks for

  • Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s transfer of the title to 245 core acres in the heart of Teatown – land that will be protected in perpetuity by a conservation easement
  • Transformation of an old garage into the new, state-of-the-art Teatown Environmental Science Center
  • Dedication of the 250 volunteers who offered 5,000 hours of service to maintaining trails, animal care, education, clerical tasks, and special events
  • More than 1,000 friends and visitors who have become Teatown members
  • Our forty-sixth season of Teatown Natural Science Summer Day Camp, a place where more than 540 children developed appreciation and understanding of nature and their own sense of personal and civic environmental responsibility

and so much more.

Most of all, we’re grateful that you’re part of our growing Teatown community. This year we welcomed more than 20,000 people – children of all ages, and adults – for camp sessions, school field trips, hikes, education programs on everything from native plantings to bear awareness, corporate volunteer days, and trail work. We believe that those who come to Teatown and experience the beauty and wonder of engaging with nature come away having received far more than they sought or expected.

In order for our visitors to continue to seek and find their joy in nature at Teatown, we need your help. More than 60 percent of our annual operating budget comes from support from friends like you. Your generous gift at this important time of year will allow us to continue to provide programs for children in under-served communities, care for the animal ambassadors entrusted to our stewardship, maintain safe and beautiful hiking trails, and host wildly popular annual events like EagleFest and PlantFest.

Please consider a donation to Teatown in your holiday season giving this year, at whatever level feels significant to you. Contribute today using the link below. Your generosity enables us to fulfill Teatown’s mission: inspiring our community to lifelong environmental stewardship.

With heartfelt thanks and kind regards,

Kevin Carter
Executive Director
