Spring Appeal 2026
Yes! I support the protection and care of Teatown’s 1,000-acre preserve.
Dear friends,
After a long, frigid winter, both Teatown and the natural world are stirring back to life.
Buds swell on the trees. Robins and warblers return. The scent of thawing earth signals renewal — and reminds us that restoration begins with care.
For decades, Teatown’s more than 1,000-acre preserve has existed because this community believed open space should be protected and shared. That belief has grown into something extraordinary — and it continues because of you.
Today, we are proud to share important news. As an accredited land trust, Teatown has recently protected 21 acres of ecologically significant land directly adjacent to our preserve. This remarkable property includes wetlands, a freshwater pond, and forested uplands. Bailey Brook flows from Teatown Lake through the parcel before continuing to the Croton Reservoir — making this land critical not only for wildlife habitat, but for regional water quality.
Thanks to the generosity of a private family foundation and a dedicated individual donor, this land is now protected. But protection is only the beginning.
Years of invasive growth, declining tree health, and habitat disruption must now be addressed. This restoration work begins with removing invasive species, clearing dead and unhealthy trees, and reestablishing native biodiversity so wildlife can thrive.
We need your help.
Your gift today will help transform newly protected acreage into a resilient forest and thriving habitat that strengthens the entire preserve. Every contribution — of any size — directly supports our restoration and stewardship work.
Together, we can protect Teatown’s more than 1,000 acres while advancing our mission to inspire our community to lifelong environmental stewardship — now and for generations to come. Please make your gift today.
With gratitude,
Kevin Carter
