Nature Center Renovation Update: Teatown’s Next Chapter Is Taking Shape
Construction at Teatown’s Nature Center continues to move steadily, and the building is beginning to look more and more like the renewed space our community has been imagining.
Inside, crews are installing sheetrock across the upper, main, and lower levels. As walls and ceilings begin to close up, the future shape of the Nature Center is coming into focus — including spaces for expanded exhibits, improved animal care, educational programming, staff offices, and a more welcoming visitor experience.
Over the next several weeks, work will continue on drywall, ceilings, bathroom tile, exterior doors, elevator systems, and other major building components. Site work around parking, access, and the surrounding grounds is also moving forward. The start of site work for Teatown’s new Education Center is also approaching, with more updates to come soon.
While this is an exciting stage of the project, there is still important work ahead before the Nature Center can reopen to the public. Teatown must complete inspections, secure a certificate of occupancy, continue fundraising for final campaign priorities, and install the exhibits and visitor experiences that will bring the renovated building fully to life.
This transformation is made possible by supporters who believe in the power of environmental education.
