Teatown Takes Flight on PIX11’s New York Living to Promote Hudson River EagleFest® 2026
Teatown Lake Reservation recently took center stage on PIX11’s New York Living, bringing the excitement of the Teatown Hudson River EagleFest® straight into New York City living rooms. On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Teatown Executive Director Kevin Carter appeared live in studio alongside animal ambassador Belle the Red-tailed Hawk, helping share the story of EagleFest and Teatown’s mission with a regional audience.

Belle was expertly handled by Maddy Schroeder, Teatown educator and raptor specialist, who ensured Belle was comfortable and camera-ready throughout the segment. Emily Edmonds-Langham, Teatown’s Director of Education, was also on site, representing Teatown’s education team and helping highlight the organization’s hands-on, science-based approach to environmental learning.

During the appearance, Kevin Carter spoke about Teatown’s role as a nonprofit environmental education center and nature preserve dedicated to inspiring lifelong environmental stewardship. With Belle as a live ambassador for raptor conservation, viewers got a powerful, up-close look at the wildlife that makes the Hudson River Valley such an important winter habitat.

The segment spotlighted the 22nd Annual Teatown Hudson River EagleFest®, taking place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Croton Point Park (snow date: Sunday, February 8). Each winter, EagleFest celebrates the return of bald eagles to the Hudson River, attracting thousands of visitors eager to witness this extraordinary natural phenomenon.

EagleFest 2026 will feature live bird shows with raptors on the wing, guided bird walks using spotting scopes to view eagles in the wild, heated tents filled with educational exhibits, hands-on crafts and activities for children, and food trucks throughout the park. Special programs this year include stories and songs of bald eagles with master storyteller Jonathan Kruk and musician Steve Kellman, family bird walks led by Emily Edmonds-Langham, and thrilling flight demonstrations by Brian Bradley’s Skyhunters.

Accessibility and sustainability are central to the event. Croton Point Park is easily reached via Metro-North Railroad to the Croton-Harmon station, with free shuttle buses operating throughout the day between the station, parking areas, and eagle viewing sites. Teatown also announced the return of its partnership with Metro-North for the popular “Eagle Train,” featuring dedicated train cars with Teatown naturalists on board to help passengers spot the sights and the flights along the Hudson River.
