Teatown 2021 Summer Camp Senior Counselor

Responsibilities include:

– Daily (M-F) supervision and safety of group
– Coordination of activities, games and crafts
– Teach environmental science and natural history concepts
-Hiking, exploring and outdoor education

– Must be 18 years old or older
– Experience working with children
– Physically active position
– Participation in weeklong training session
– A love of the outdoors
– A science and/or education background


Starting at $2,300 – depending on experience

Lake Monitoring and Management Intern

Responsibilities include:

– Plan, implement, and manage the Teatown Lake Floating Wetlands Project, a pilot program to
monitor and control nutrient levels using engineered wetlands
– Conduct monthly submersed aquatic vegetation surveys (SAV) on Vernay Lake and Shadow Lake
via kayak using a standardized survey protocol (rake toss, point-intercept method)
– Collect and identify zooplankton using a plankton tow
– Take weekly water quality measurements, including turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and
phosphorous and nitrogen concentrations, on Teatown Lake

– High school diploma (18+) and some college experience (preferred)
– Experience with research (literature review)
– Experience working independently and comfortable working alone
– Ability to remain positive in adverse environmental conditions
– Willingness to hike easy-moderate terrain

$17/hr (Full stipend $6,000). Local applicants only, no housing provided.
