Nature Center Renovation Update: Building Momentum

Nature Center Renovation Update: Building Momentum

Construction at Teatown’s Nature Center continues to move quickly, with major progress taking shape both inside and out.

Over the past few weeks, the structure of the building has come into clearer focus. Roof framing has been completed, and shingles are now being installed—an important step in sealing the building and improving long-term energy efficiency.

At the same time, work on one of the most impactful additions to the building is advancing: the new elevator. With the elevator structure taking shape and key components arriving on site, this upgrade will open the Nature Center to visitors of all abilities, making the space more accessible than ever before.

Other key milestones include the completion of window installation and ongoing exterior work such as trim, fascia, and soffits, all of which contribute to the building’s durability and performance.

While much of this work is structural, its impact is ultimately about experience. Each step brings us closer to a Nature Center that is more welcoming, more efficient, and better equipped to serve the community—whether through expanded exhibits, improved animal care spaces, or more accessible programming.

This transformation is happening thanks to the continued support of the Teatown community. Your investment is helping to shape a space that will inspire learning, connection, and stewardship for years to come.

This transformation is made possible by supporters who believe in the power of environmental education.

If you’d like to help bring the new Nature Center to life, please consider making a gift to support the project. Every contribution helps build a space that will inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
