SUMMARY:Wildflower Island Guide Info Session
DESCRIPTION:Do green and growing things fill your heart with joy? Are you curious about the natural world and eager to share that curiosity with the public? You might be a good fit for the Wildflower Island Guide program. Meet with Wildflower Island Curator Rebecca Dymes to learn more. Rebecca will share about the history of the Island\, as well as review the training and commitment involved in joining the Wildflower Island team. \nWildflower Island Guides lead small group tours of this two-acre treasure. Training begins each Spring with two Saturday or Sunday morning sessions.  After the initial training\, the Wildflower Island Guides meet monthly on Saturday or Sunday through September for additional training. Novice guides also work one-on-one with a mentor. Requires a commitment of at least 6 tours per season (April through September) or to work the equivalent hours on Wildflower Island garden maintenance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:North American Butterfly Association Meeting: February 20
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome for the February 2025 meeting of the Westchester-Putnam chapter of the North American Butterfly Association. This month’s meeting will feature a presentation by Eva Thaddeus. Eva is a native New Yorker who\, in spite of (or maybe because of) growing up in Manhattan\, has always been a passionate gardener and naturalist. After a 20-year career as a public school teacher in New Mexico\, and four years as an environmental educator at Teatown\, she opened Wild Gardens Nursery\, a native plant nursery in Cortlandt Manor for home gardeners. Her ongoing investigation of ecological landscape design has included studies at the New York Botanical Garden and New Directions in the American Landscape. She is a member of the Local 59 network\, a group focused on the collection and production of seed and plants from Ecoregion 59 (ours!). The meeting will be held in the Carriage House. Coffee\, tea\, and snacks will be served. \nRegistration is free. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER
