SUMMARY:Tune Your Ear to Nature and Live Music (New Date)
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto credit: Gabe Palacio \n\n\n**This event has been rescheduled from August 22 to August 28 due to inclement weather** \nElevate your Sunday morning with Tune Your Ear to Nature and Live Music with Beginner’s Ear\, an al fresco concert that tunes your ear to silence\, nature\, and music\, leaving you feeling re-centered and inspired. Beginner’s Ear was created by Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim\, a longtime classical music critic (contributing to The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times)\, in order to help audiences hear more and feel better. The 75-minute event begins with a short\, guided meditation. Out of the resulting deep stillness\, a half-hour performance of chamber music unfolds. A moderated question-and-answer time with participants and musicians closes the event. \nAudiences have called Beginner’s Ear a “transformative” and “cathartic” experience. With the stunning backdrop of Teatown Lake and its own deeply restorative world of sounds\, this is sure to be a very special event. \n \nThe concert will feature performances by Josh Henderson on violin and Jordan Dodson on guitar. Henderson is a classical soloist who has performed with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra\, China Performing Arts Broadcasting Troupe\, Starling Chamber Orchestra\, and Harlem Chamber Players\, among many other ensembles and orchestras. As a composer\, his piece entitled “A Bird Fell Today” premiered at Carnegie Hall. \nJordan Dodson is an active soloist and chamber musician based in New York and Philadelphia. A winner of Astral’s 2013 National Auditions\, Dodson has performed in several New York City chamber ensembles including the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players and Contemporaneous. During this concert\, they will perform the music of Alyssa Weinberg\, Elliot Cole\, Sergio Assad\, and J.S. Bach. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeatown has a history of live\, outdoor music events on the preserve\, including chamber music concerts in the 1970s and a concert by Pete Seeger in 1989 (see archival photograph above). With this summer’s cautious return to in-person gatherings after so many months of pandemic isolation\, Teatown is delighted to welcome the community to this first of several live music events over the coming months. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick Here To Purchase Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease read carefully: \nThis event has been rescheduled from August 22 to August 28 due to inclement weather. \nMembers: $30; Non-members $35. A $3 processing fee will be added to each ticket. Print your confirmation or save it on your mobile device. Seating capacity is limited to 50 guests. \nNo refunds. All proceeds go to support Teatown’s mission of inspiring lifelong environmental stewardship in our community. \nAdults only. No dogs allowed. \nThe event will be held outdoors at the Boathouse (Lakeside Trail). Please dress comfortably for the season. Comfortable shoes are recommended for navigating the grounds. \nA parking fee of $5 is not included in the ticket price. Teatown members always park free.  The Lakeside Parking Lot on Blinn Road is closest to the Boathouse. (Please follow the directional signs on the roads). You may park at any of the Teatown parking lots. Please be prepared to walk a few minutes to the event venue. \nChairs will be provided\, but you are welcome to bring your own low-profile lawn chair. Bring your own water.  Restrooms are available in the Visitors Center. \nMasks are required for guests who are unvaccinated.
