SUMMARY:Cindy's Garden Grand Re-opening
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the grand re-opening of Cindy’s Garden!\nWe will celebrate the re-modeled sensory garden with music by Rip and The Sleepy Hollow Boys\, ice cream from The Blue Pig available for purchase\, an official ribbon cutting ceremony\, and more! \nDiane Uhle\, Teatown’s native plants gardener\, will be onsite to answer any questions about the garden you may have. \nFree and open to the public\, no registration required! \nCindy’s Garden was dedicated in 2010 to the memory of Cindy O’Hanley\, a cherished volunteer Nature Guide and leader of Teatown’s Little Tree Huggers and Knee Hi Nature groups. “Mrs. O” shared her love of nature and\, especially\, plants with many budding naturalists. Teatown has since worked with our master gardener\, Diane Uhle\, to transform this space into an educational sensory garden. \nWhat is a sensory garden?\nA sensory garden encourages interaction with the plants and insects that occupy that space\, to stimulate the five senses. It is a quiet\, contemplative space\, meant for interacting with nature and learning by tuning into our senses. All are invited in to smell a leaf\, watch a butterfly\, compose a journal entry\, listen to the insects’ conversations\, or simply relax and let nature come to you. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCindy’s Garden under construction\nJoin us at the event to see the final product!

SUMMARY:"Plants in Our Daily Lives" Artist Reception
DESCRIPTION:Some admired and some unnoticed\, plant life permeates our lives with its beauty and importance.\nYou may think there is nothing much to the plants and trees that are around us every day\, but they are vital for life and our long-term survival. Plants are an essential resource – we rely on them for food\, water\, medicine\, the air we breathe\, habitat\, our climate and more. \nThe intention of this exhibition is to bring awareness to the necessity of plants in our daily lives. The botanical art on exhibit examines some of the plants we depend on almost daily. The beautiful\, exquisitely detailed botanical watercolor paintings and drawings remind us of the importance of stewardship in preserving our natural environments to reduce the pollution of air\, water\, and soil. \n\n\nThe participating local artists studying with Corinne Lapin-Cohen at StoneHouse Studio in Katonah\, NY are Lenore Adams\, Ann Goodman\, Rochelle Auslander\, Gloria Gorell\, Phyllis Chadwick\, Norma Kurman\, and Yona Shilling. The artwork of Corinne Lapin-Cohen will also be on exhibit. We thank Teatown for the wonderful exhibition space in which to deliver our message through art. We are proud to be part of the Address: Earth project being held at several locations throughout the Hudson Valley this summer conceived and curated by Bibiana Huang Matheis. \nClick here for more information and artist bios
