Wendy holds a BS in Biology from the University at Buffalo\, an MS in Secondary Science Education from the University of Bridgeport\, and is happy to call White Plains\, NY home.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this great virtual event!\nA diverse group of panelists will discuss their experiences in STEM\, including obstacles and barriers they have faced in the environmental field. They will give advice to students on how they might pursue a similar path\, sharing valuable lessons learned. The panel will be followed by two keynote speakers that will discuss actionable steps local leaders can take to develop opportunities for people of color as part of their diversity\, equity\, and inclusion efforts.\nSpeakers: \n \nBrigitte Griswold\, Groundwork Hudson Valley (Keynote Speaker)\nAs Executive Director of Groundwork Hudson Valley\, Brigitte oversees the organization’s efforts to create sustainable environmental change in Yonkers through community-based partnerships that promote equity\, youth leadership\, and economic opportunity. Brigitte is a 2009 Fellow of Green for All\, a national organization dedicated to building an inclusive green economy\, and a 2010 Fellow of the Center for Whole Communities\, which promotes stronger connections between people\, land\, and community. \n \nDavid Muñoz\, PhD\, Penn State University (Keynote Speaker)\nDr. David Muñoz will share his story in the environmental sciences from the coast of Carolina to the mountains of Costa Rica. Just like people\, animals have to adapt when events cause their homes to change. How do they do this? Learn how science opened the door to a whole new world. David is currently a Research and Equity Specialist at Penn State University where he works to create cultural and structural change for the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management. \n \nFazena Bacchus\, Mott MacDonald\nFazena Bacchus is a water resources engineer at Mott MacDonald. Her professional experience encompasses a wide range of projects involving design related to water and wastewater infrastructure\, coastal resiliency\, and stormwater management. Fazena earned a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Engineering from Columbia University in 2016 and a M.E. in Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Water Resource Management from Manhattan College in 2018. \n \nJerome Cunningham\, Groundwork Hudson Valley\nJerome is the Development and Communications Associate at Groundwork Hudson. He is a graduate of CUNY’s City College of New York\, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Communications\, Advertising\, and Public Relations. Jerome is a self-proclaimed ‘Harlemite’\, born and raised in the Sugar Hill district. \n \nVictor Medina\, Groundwork Hudson Valley\nVictor is the Youth Programs Manager at Groundwork Hudson. Participants will not be admitted to programs without a signed waiver\, and will be asked to sign one if they do not bring one.\nProgram participants will be required to undergo a temperature check each day before being admitted to a program\nIf a participant or any member of a participant’s household has any COVID-19 symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 they must inform Teatown and remain home.\nAll participants must wear face masks and observe physical distancing protocols – 6 ft apart as much is reasonably possible during activities.\nProgram numbers are set to coincide with NYS DOH Reopening Phase 4 group limits.\nAll shared program material will be sanitized after use in Teatown’s UV-C closet.\nAll programs are outdoors. The Carriage House restrooms and Cliffdale Education Building restrooms will be available for program participants\nThe Carriage House and Cliffdale Education Center are sanitized daily per CDC recommendations\, or as needed between programs.\nNo refunds will be issued for any programs. Credits for future programs will be issued for health-related reasons only.\nPrograms will not take place in heavy rain or thunderstorms. DESCRIPTION:We are taking Teatown Nature Girls to the next level so mom can join in the fun too! The outdoors is the inspiration for a journey of self-discovery and exploration creating strong bonds. Through action and reflection\, we’ll expand knowledge of each other\, nature\, and extraordinary women scientists. Muddy adventures\, art projects\, and sharing circles will leave mom and daughter as role models to each other.\nProgram Dates \nJuly 28\, 29\, 30\n9:30 am– 11:30 am each day \nPricing and details \nMembers: $150\nNon-members: $170 \nFor girls ages 8-12 years with Mom (or female caregiver). 8 couples maximum. \n\nPlease review\, print\, and sign the waiver located here before attending programs. Sharing of individual program supplies is discouraged.\nNo refunds will be issued for any programs.
