SUMMARY:Backyard Wildlife: Listening When Females Sing - The Wonders of Female Bird Song
DESCRIPTION:While male birdsong has been extensively studied\, female birdsong behavior remains largely a mystery. Recent research has begun to shed light on females’ songs and their behaviors\, although there is still much left to discover. Join us as we explore the functions\, contexts\, and background of female birdsong from across the world. \nTickets are Pay-as-you-wish starting at $5. \nProgram to take place over Zoom. Participants will receive the access code/link upon registration and an email the day of the event. \nPresenter Bio: \nAr Kornreich is an ornithologist and nature enthusiast from New Rochelle\, NY.  While a Biology major from Queens College (CUNY)\, they studied the differences in song structure between male and female House Finches. After graduating with a B.A. in Biology\, they are currently a PhD student studying at Fordham University\, doing research on the song behavior and territoriality of the Gray Catbird in the mockingbird family. They particularly love hiking and birding on Teatown’s trails and trying to identify birds by sound. \n\n\n\nRegister
