DESCRIPTION:Gabriel Cabezas\, cello\nPerforming recent and old compositions by composers including Jessie Montgomery\, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and Giuseppe Colombi\n\nTune Your Ear to Nature and Live Music with Beginner’s Ear\, an al fresco concert that tunes your ear to silence\, nature\, and music\, leaving you feeling re-centered and inspired.\nThe 75-minute event begins with a short\, guided meditation before the performance\, and concludes with a question-and-answer session for participants with the musician. \n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCellist Gabriel Cabezas is a true 21st century musician. A prolific and sought-after soloist and collaborator\, he is as comfortable interpreting new works as he is with the pillar scores of the cello repertoire. Gabriel has appeared with America’s finest symphony orchestras\, including those of Philadelphia\, Chicago\, Cleveland and New York\, and has premiered dozens of new works by some of the most brilliant composers of his time. \nHe recently released Lost Coast\, a dynamic album of original music composed by Gabriella Smith inspired by her reflections on climate change\, which she has seen devastate her home state of California. DESCRIPTION:Brandon Patrick George\, flute: Music by Kalevi Aho and Johann Sebastian Bach.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrandon Patrick George is a leading soloist and Grammy-nominated chamber musician whose repertoire extends from the Baroque era to today. He is the flutist of Imani Winds and has appeared as a soloist with the Atlanta\, Baltimore\, and Albany symphonies; the American Composers Orchestra; and Orchestra of St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble\, among others. He has been praised as “elegant” by The New York Times\, as a “virtuoso” by The Washington Post\, and as a “knockout musician with a gorgeous sound” by The Philadelphia Inquirer. His debut album was released by Haenssler Classics in September 2020; The New York Times has described it as “a program that showcases the flute in all its wit\, warmth and brilliance.” \nBrandon has performed at Alice Tully Hall\, Carnegie Hall\, the Elbphilharmonie\, the Kennedy Center\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, the Dresden Music Festival\, and the Prague Spring Festival. In addition to his work with Imani Winds\, Brandon has collaborated with members of the Gryphon Trio\, the New York Philharmonic\, the Jasper String Quartet\, and performed live on New York’s WQXR with harpist Bridget Kibbey. \nPrior to his solo career\, Brandon performed as a guest with many of the world’s leading ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic\, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra\, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra\, and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). With the Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Brandon performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall and at the Hollywood Bowl under conductors including Music Director Gustavo Dudamel\, Karina Canellakis\, Ludovic Morlot\, and John Williams. Brandon has toured with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE)\, appearing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)\, the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago)\, the Park Avenue Armory (NYC)\, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in England. His time with the LA Phil and with ICE allowed him to work closely with some of the foremost composers of our time including John Adams\, Louis Andriessen\, Steve Reich\, and George Lewis. \nGeorge trained at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music\, the Conservatoire de Paris\, and the Manhattan School of Music. Scott is also the Town of Ossining Historian\, and has spoken to local groups about environmental history in the Hudson Valley for decades \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBirder: Doug Bloom – SOLD OUT \nWalk Time: 12:30pm – 1:15pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoug Bloom is a former president of the Bronx River Sound Shore Audubon Society and its current vice president. He is a lifelong birder\, the current birding field trip leader at the Audubon Society\, and all-around nature and birding enthusiast.
