It’s time for Pride Month at Teatown! Join community members to mingle and make bird or bat houses before hiking the Cliffdale Loop trail, where we’ll do some birding.
Grab a net and join Environmental Educator Elissa Schilmeister for a glimpse into the life of Vernay Lake. There are strange and wonderful creatures to be found! Please dress appropriately for prolonged outdoor activity, and be sure to bring sun protection, bug spray, and water. Be prepared to get muddy!
Put your baby in a backpack, lace up your toddler’s hiking boots, and hit the trail with mom and Teatown educator Marie Roche for a nature walk. Marie and her son will lead a short hike, and offer parental support and camaraderie. (It takes a village, right?)
Fishing on Teatown Lake is not generally permitted this year, but we have special permission to use the lake for this morning only. Whoever catches the longest fish wins a Teatown hat and 2026 bragging rights.
Join naturalist and insect expert Harry Zirlin for an evening exploring beetles, bugs, and the fascinating world of insects. Harry writes about insects for Butterflies, the magazine of the North American Butterfly Association, and donated an important insect collection to Yale University.
The gates of Wildflower Island are open – come stroll the winding paths and enjoy the beauty of Teatown Lake from a different perspective. Guides will be stationed in the Gatehouse and along the trails to answer questions about the flowers in bloom.
Join Charlie Roberto as we search for butterflies at Cliffdale Farm. Participants should be prepared to walk through tall grass – wear long pants, high socks, and closed-toe shoes.

Drop in to speak with our Raptor Group volunteers, who will share their expertise about our live collection, including Red-tailed Hawks, Turkey Vultures, and Barred Owls. Ask your questions about prickly porcupines, chatty jays, and curious crows!

Create your own sweep net and learn how to safely observe and handle insects while gaining a deeper appreciation for their role in the ecosystem.
