  • Eel with Teatown Info Session (Ages 14+)

    Learn how to join the team of volunteer eelers in this Zoom info session offered by Teatown’s Marie Roche and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Teatown manages the Furnace Brook site as a part of the DEC’s American Eel Research Project. This requires mostly outdoor field work from late March through May, with very flexible schedules. Volunteers are able to explore local wildlife in the great outdoors while working collaboratively within a team.

    Stoke up the fire, it’s sugaring season at Teatown! From tapping to collecting, boiling to bottling, Teatown’s naturalists will be sharing facts and folklore about this sweet time of year. This year, we will learn Lenape legends about the origins of this storied tradition.

    The season for growth is nearly upon us: celebrate spring in the gardens of Cliffdale Farm with Environmental Educator Caroline Erb and Stewardship Program Manager Eva Giorgi. Decorate a pot, take home native seeds, and plant something for the season ahead in our pollinator garden. Set your spring intentions on a short hike after getting your hands in the spring soil. This program involves a short walk and light gardening, so come to craft, but please dress for the weather.
