WHAT WE DO > ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION > School Programs

At Teatown, we believe that at the core of environmental protection is ecological literacy, including an understanding of the essential necessity of protecting nature and how we as individuals can participate in creating a healthy, sustainable community.

Teatown’s educational programs are designed to empower students through knowledge. Our educators help foster young people’s innate curiosity and enthusiasm about flora and fauna, provide them with opportunities to explore their environment and engage them in direct discovery of the world around them. Participants learn that what they do individually and in collective groups can make a difference.

Teatown’s School Programs offer the following unique advantages:

  • A wide variety of environmental awareness classes that meet your interests/needs
  • Classes taught by dedicated and qualified educators
  • Up-to-date curriculum incorporating current environmental principles (many satisfying New York State Science Standards and Science 21)
  • An instructor ratio of 10 to 1, ensuring a rich learning experience
  • Hands-on learning that stimulates the senses and encourages memory retention
  • Affordable per child prices

Teatown offers a wide variety of environmental education programs for children in Pre-K through 6th grade, and unique watershed education programs for middle and high school-age students.  Annually, nearly 6,000 children participate in Teatown’s environmental education classes. Additionally, we offer a number of teacher workshops/learning opportunities. You can read all about our school programs through the links above.
