Dear Friends of Teatown,
We are busy preparing for Teatown’s Nature-Friendly Plant Sale & Workshops, taking place at the Nature Center on Friday and Saturday, May 9th & 10th. We are receiving hundreds of annuals, herbs, native plants & wildflowers, vegetables, and perennials that will be available at the First Pick Sale on Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm ($5 admission), and then again on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm.
Our plant sale has a “nature-friendly” theme by focusing on the relationship between gardening and healthy environments. Expert Teatown volunteers will be on hand to provide tips to help you choose the right plants for your garden. Also, Teatown educators on Saturday will offer a series of free, 20-minute, mini-workshops that we’ve entitled ‘Learn, Shop, Grow.” Please review the workshop schedule below and come to one, or all, of these presentations.
Volunteers Needed! Our plant sale relies on 100+ dedicated volunteers to run smoothly. Can you spare a few hours to help? Please call Beth Rhines, our Volunteer Coordinator, at 762-2912, ext. 115, or email her at brhines@teatown.org to discuss how you can be a plant sale volunteer.
The concept of our plant sale is simple: learn about nature-friendly planting, shop for appropriate plants or flowers, and then bring them home to add to your backyard nature sanctuary!
See you at the Plant Sale,
Fred W. Koontz, Ph.D.
