Volunteer Spotlight:  Thank You!

Teatown regularly recognizes the extraordinary volunteer efforts of an individual, family or group, which we feature in our newsletter.  We shine our spotlight this Trails on a man who has spent many years enriching the lives of others who have passed through Teatown: Aaron Bock.

Aaron began volunteering at Teatown in 1992 in almost every special event at Teatown, from handling finances and organizing the ever-popular snack area at the Fall Festival, to the grillmaster at the Pancake Brunch grilling the pancakes and sausage for over 300 hungry diners!

Aaron brings something more to Teatown – his enthusiasm and knowledge of the outdoors. He has led many canoe trips – from canoeing the Great Swamp in Patterson to our Mothers Day canoe on Teatown Lake. He has taught Backpacking for Beginners and led hikes at many locations in the region, including the Hudson Valley Ramble. Amazingly, Aaron has volunteered over 250 hours for Teatown!

If you come to any of our programs or events it is likely you have seen his cheerful face. For all his time and dedication, we award Aaron this well-deserved honor!

Aaron is a practicing lawyer and past Town Supervisor of Yorktown. He is President of Temple Beth Am in Yorktown, has been Chairman of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and serves on the Yorktown Land Trust. He is also married to Teatown’s Education Director, Phyllis Bock! (Jan. 2008)
